ZAMBIA ASSOCIATION FOR YOUTHS IN SCHOOLS-ZAYS

WHO WE ARE

Introducation


Zambia Association for Youths in Schools is an independent non governmental and non-profit making organization; concerned with adolescent reproduction health, HIV/AIDS/STDs prevention among school going youths including the disabled (e.g. the deaf, blind and physically disabled), youth empowerment through education and other activities. Human right is also part and parcel of the ZAYS concerns especially child rights including interventions against sexual abuse and all forms of child exploitation.

ZAYS was formed in the year 2000, by concerned youthful men and women from different life backgrounds wanting to help in solving the problems youths encounter during their educational endeavours in relation to the HIV/AIDS pandemic, which has claimed most lives of youths in the country.

ZAYS is a registered non government organization under the registrar of society act of the laws of the Republic of Zambia through the Ministry of Home Affairs having the certificate registration number ORS/02/3522/83/22 of 3rd April 2001.

Since then ZAYS has vigorously embarked on a membership recruitment exercise by targeting young people through sensitization and educating them on the dangers of HIV/AIDS. Further mitigation campaigns of the disease through raising awareness and enabling young people to acquire skills and knowledge about sexuality.


Vision

To have free HIV/AIDS/STDs school going youths and empower them with life saving skill; for sustainable development in bridging the gap between school time and after school life.

Mission

Empowering school-going youths with life saving skills and knowledge about sexuality that will see an HIV/AIDS free society saving the vulnerable.

Goal

To create strengthen the structure, organization and capacity school initiatives in HIV/AIDS interventions, technical subjects and life saving skills.

Objectives

To empower school going youths with live saving skills
To bridge the gap between school time and after school life
To help orphans and vulnerable youths remove self pit by offering sustainable means of survivor through these skill.
To improve community life in school going children
To promote girl child youths in school and other activities that is of benefit to their lives.
To supplement government and stakeholder in the HIV/ADIS multi-approach in interventions.
